The Aboriginal participation in construction (APIC) policy has been developed to support greater participation by Aboriginal people in government construction projects across NSW. The aim of the policy is consistent with OCHRE (Opportunity, Choice, Healing, Responsibility and Empowerment) – the NSW Government’s plan to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people across all sectors of the community. OCHRE recognises the need for a new approach and direction to support Aboriginal Economic Development across NSW, built on the strengths of the State’s Aboriginal communities and their long history of successful enterprise and trade as part of their own economic systems.

The NSWICC is a Formal Partner to the NSW Government and a key stakeholder in supporting Agencies and Contractors to meet their requirements under the Policy, providing consultancy, advice and facilitation services at all stages of the project lifecycle.

The NSWICC is an Approved Association by the NSW Procurement Board: This means your engagement of the NSWICC and our Services count as an approved direct and indirect spend under APIC.

This means that by working in partnership with the NSWICC through our expert and exhaustive services, Agencies and Contractors can afford the best support and increase their capacity to achieve quality and sustained outcomes in the area of Indigenous training, employment and sub-contracting.
